The video loads from YouTube only when you press play. It shows an earlier check (13 of 20 answers); the latest is 21 of 28.

The problem

At the start of 2026 I wanted to know two things about my own photography website. Could Google and AI assistants actually read it? And when someone asked ChatGPT for a photographer in Cambridge, did it name us? The tools that answer that charge every month, and most stop at "are you recommended by AI?" without saying what to fix.

Who it is for

Small business owners who want the whole picture in one place, and me, for every audit Visual Network runs.

Constraints

One person, building in the evenings. AI and search data cost money on every call, so costs had to stay visible. Members' own API keys had to be stored safely. And the reports had to be readable by someone who has never heard of structured data.

The approach

In June 2026 I wrote down everything the app should do in one long brief and built it with Claude. Since then, most evenings have gone into making it better: new checks, clearer reports, and a lot of security work.

What was built

  • A scan that works out what the website is built on, including the theme and plugins, and reads the pages.
  • A page-by-page SEO audit, with each problem explained and the fix described.
  • An AI visibility check: it writes the questions a real customer would ask, without naming the business, puts them to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity with live web search, and reads every answer.
  • Checks of the structured data and FAQs on every page, and of the Google Business Profile.
  • Local SEO ideas, a rank tracker, and content briefs built around a keyword.
  • The Complete Report: around 60 pages with three scores, an executive summary, five things to do this month, six specialist workstreams and a roadmap.
  • The Action Plan, the Business Strategist, By the book and Monetisation ideas reports.

Technology

A web application that calls AI and search providers through their APIs. Members bring their own API keys, which are stored encrypted, and sign-in uses two-factor authentication.

The outcome

Visibility Pilot produces every Visual Network audit and the £99 Complete Report. It is the tool used on Cambridge Photographers, where the September 2026 scan scored SEO 85, AI visibility 100 and Google Business Profile 100, and showed exactly what held the SEO score back: two old redirects and a page nothing linked to.

Evidence

The walkthrough video, the screenshot on this page, and a sample report on request.

Limitations

The SEO audit reads a sample of pages, not every page of a very large site. AI answers change with the platform, the question, the location and the date, so every result is a dated snapshot, not a ranking. The strategy reports are proposed plans to test, not guarantees. The app depends on third-party AI and data providers.

Current status

Live and in daily use, updated most weeks.
