Overview
We created the Cambridge tours website after Cambridge Photographers came up with an idea to create a site with all the pretty images of Cambridge they took during their various shoots in town but aimed at the various people visiting Cambridge all year round.
We decided to get a .tours domain name as it allows us to have just the city name and the keyword “tours” in the domain name. Simple and to the point. That way we can also offer various tours: photography tours, wine tours, pub tours, VIP tours, lover tours, etc.
The older part of Cambridge is a massive magnet for people visiting the city all year around. Knowledge of where to take the best pictures and eat the best food, as well as visit the best colleges is invaluable. Through this website, we want to offer anyone young and old a key to our city, while promoting local businesses. We are seeing more and more visits to the site, and the Instagram feed, despite being very basic attracts plenty of attention.
We would be looking into possible partnerships with local businesses as well as entrepreneurs interested in co-running the site with us. It has huge potential but we may have bitten more than we can chew here.
We have a lot of different ideas for the future of this site. A Web app is in the wings, as well as deals with local businesses. We want to show you Cambridge in a way you never saw before. Through our imagery but also through the best the city has got to offer.
The website is fully finished and operational. We have had a branding revamp with a brand new logo and we have already seen an uptake in bookings.
